Part of the Indego team is getting back to Rwanda in April. Still a couple months away, but a lot of preparation and planning required - everything from working on an English language instruction program to helping design a program for the expert weavers and sewers in Rwanda learn how stay healthy and avoid hand, eye and body strain. Add to that an enhancement of our program to help improve their business knowledge and cooperative management skills. All of this with the Indego goal of these women progessing to full economic independence.
After living in Africa for over a decade and travelling throughout the continent for many more years before and after that for business and being a tourist, I never expected that I would be able to find a way to get involved in a grass roots project like Indego that would help bring knowledge and opportunities that are otherwise not available. Yet at the same time allow me to put my experience to use. I know how difficult it is for those who have never been to Rwanda or any other part of Africa to understand the effect and lasting influence it has on everyone. The cause of this is not hard to explain - it is the enthusiasm and curiosity and hard work and family ties and kindness to strangers that seem to be a part of everyone you meet. The hope of Indego is that even without going to Africa to experience this first hand, you can catch some of the enthusiasm from our blog, learn from our web-site and catch a small glimpse of what we all see in Rwanda.
